Universitas Indonesia (UI), through the Bureau of Public Relations (Humas) and Public Information Disclosure (KIP), has won three prestigious awards at the 2024 Media Relations Award (MRA) organized by the Serikat Perusahaan Pers (SPS). The awards were announced at the peak event held at the Savoy Homann Hotel, Bandung, West Java, on September 20, 2024, coinciding with the commemoration of SPS’s 78th Anniversary.
UI received two awards from the press release category, namely silver and bronze, for the news coverage achievements produced. Meanwhile, another award was won in the press conference category, for the implementation of activities that were considered successful in attracting public attention.
The Head of the UI Public Relations and KIP Bureau, Amelita Lusia, M.Si., CPR, expressed her gratitude for this achievement. “We are very grateful to SPS for appreciating the hard work of the UI Public Relations and KIP Bureau team. Every day, we are committed to conveying positive news about UI to the public,” said Amelita.
She also added that as one of the leading campuses in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, UI continues to carry out its social responsibility through quality news reporting. “Every day, we send releases to fellow journalists about various activities at UI, including from 14 faculties, 2 postgraduate programs, and 1 vocational education program,” she explained.
Furthermore, Amelita emphasized the importance of UI’s role in educating the public through positive news and supporting press independence. “This achievement is proof that UI has contributed to realizing a healthy and quality press, in accordance with this year’s SPS theme, ‘Mewujudkan Pers Sehat, Pers Berkualitas’ (Realizing a Healthy Press, Quality Press),” she added.
SPS also gave awards to various parties, including the media, corporations, institutions, and local governments, for their contributions to advancing the press industry and media ecosystem during 2024. This award is expected to strengthen the cooperative relationship between press personnel and various sectors.
SPS General Chairperson, Januar P. Ruswita, stated that the 78th anniversary of SPS this time was very special because it was the culmination of various competitions, including the Media Brand Awards, Media Relations Award, and an award for Pemimpin Divisi Komunikasi, Korporasi, dan Institusi Terpopuler (the Most Popular Communications, Corporations, and Institutions Division Leaders). “These awards are given to media, corporations, institutions, and local governments. Not only that, there are also the Lontar Awards and Lestari Awards, which are given to governments and local leaders for their contributions in the field of media and local culture,” explained Januar.
With this award, Universitas Indonesia has once again demonstrated its commitment to building positive relationships with the media, as well as strengthening the role of educational institutions in supporting a healthy and quality press industry.
