The quality of scientific publications produced by higher education institutions is an important indicator in measuring academic achievement. The quality of scientific journals not only reflects the academic excellence of an educational institution, but also has a very broad impact on reputation, research, education and overall scientific progress.
Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Universitas Teuku Umar (UTU) are two higher education institutions that realize the importance of the quality of scientific publications. In an effort to improve knowledge and the quality of scientific journals, the UI Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) collaborates with UTU. The collaboration between UI and UTU in an effort to improve the quality of scientific journals is a positive step in supporting scientific development and improving the reputation of higher education institutions in Indonesia.
FIA UI, through the BUSINESS & BUREAUCRACY work unit: Journal of Administrative and Organizational Sciences (JBB), provides assistance to scientific journals that are under the UTU Journal Corpus and Intellectual Property Rights. This assistance covers various editorial aspects such as manuscript management, managing publishing partners, and solving problems related to scientific journal platforms. Apart from that, JBB FIA UI also organizes an Academic Writing Clinic program to help UTU teaching staff improve the quality of their scientific publications.
Rijal Ramdhani, S.Sos, JBB FIA UI Production Editor said, “This activity is needed as a step to improve the quality of scientific publications that are more independent, high quality and have integrity. ” The participants’ participation in this workshop is very important in improving their abilities in the academic field, especially in creating quality and impactful scientific publications.”
Support and appreciation were sent by the Rector of UTU, Prof. Dr. Drs. Ishak Hasan, M.Si. He believes that this kind of initiative will bring great benefits to both institutions and hopes for further collaboration between UI and UTU.
Secretary of the UTU Institute for Research, Community Service and Education Quality Assurance (LPPM-PMP), Heri Darsan, S.T., M.T., also expressed his appreciation for this workshop . “I really appreciate the committee who were able to carry out this event by bringing in speakers from UI. This is certainly an opportunity for us to exchange information and experiences related to the development of scientific journals and academic writing in writing good scientific articles.”
This workshop on improving the accreditation of scientific journals and the Academic Writing Clinic took place on 2nd-3rd of October 2023 at the UTU Campus, Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency, and was attended by around 25 participants and 34 representatives from various scientific journals within UTU.
