Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr (Hc). K.H. Ma’ruf Amin accompanied by Mrs. Hj. Wury Ma’ruf Amin, attended the Universitas Indonesia (UI) graduation ceremony for the Even Semester 2022/2023 at Balairung, UI Campus, Depok, West Java. The total number of graduates during the procession which will last for three days until Saturday (21/09 to 23/09) is 9,506 people, from vocational to doctoral level. The graduation ceremony was grouped according to scientific groups, namely the Social Humanities Undergraduate Program and the Vocational Education Program; Undergraduate Program in Health Sciences Cluster and Science and Technology Cluster; and Postgraduate Programs.
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin attended the graduation ceremony to witness the graduation of his daughter, Natasya Nisaul Alfani, an FEB UI alumna. “Thank God, today Natasya Nisaul Alfani graduated along with other UI graduates. As parents, we are very grateful and proud. Hopefully, she will be able to realize her knowledge and bring a good name to the UI alma mater and the nation,” said Prof. Ma’ruf Amin.
He also congratulated the other graduates for passing through one phase in their life journey. “Hopefully, you can apply knowledge according to your respective fields to advance your homeland, by upholding national values. Once again, I wish all Universitas Indonesia graduates congratulations and success. Hopefully, UI can produce leaders who are not only academically intelligent, but also leaders who have good character, are devout and trustworthy,” said Prof. Ma’ruf Amin.
UI Rector, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., in his welcoming speech said that UI graduates this semester consisted of 1,021 Diploma program graduates, 4,541 undergraduate program graduates, 325 international class program graduates, and 62 extension students. There were 23 summa cum laude graduates for the diploma program and 671 people with cumlaude predicate for the diploma program, 2,827 people for the undergraduate program, and 128 people for the international class program.
Some of the best graduates from each faculty, namely Rizka Chairunnisa, Raaf Muhammad Jay Heriyantoro, and Aliifah Nazeeya from the Faculty of Law (FH); Gabriella Caryn Nanda and Mora Nita Setyana from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB); Dyah Pitaloka and Cahaya Aanisah from the Faculty of Humanities (FIB); Umar Hifzhulhaq Sulaiman and Rania Azzahra from the Faculty of Psychology (FPsi); Mudhya Razanne Tiara and Kania Zillan Zalila Musridharta from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
(FISIP); Hafidh Nadhor Tsaqib from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA); and three graduates from the Vocational Education Program, namely Fairuz Zahra Ikhsan, Aisyah Muftian Mursyid, and Adela Salsabila Rajela.
In his speech, Prof. Ari said that the world ranking agency Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2023 placed UI in first place in Indonesia or 20th in the world. The Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2023 also published UI at number 1 in Indonesia. Another global ranking institution, namely QS World University Ranking 2024, announced that UI also occupies the number 1 position in Indonesia. For the Employer Reputation indicator, UI is included in the world’s 100th group, namely ranking 91. In the Employment Outcomes indicator, UI is ranked 103.
“This means that UI is recognized as having produced the best graduates in the eyes of employers. Hopefully, the graduates will make a contribution in sharpening UI’s Employment Outcomes ranking by making their best contribution to the world of work,” said Prof. Ari. He added, UI has also and will continue to facilitate students’ preparation and self-development so that they can undergo a smooth transition from the world of higher education to the world of post-higher education through various programs. On the other hand, through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, students have also been introduced to the world of work in an earlier and structured manner through various internship programs for which credit is recorded as part of the curriculum.
