There was something different about the Universitas Indonesia (UI) graduation ceremony held on Saturday and Sunday (August 24-25, 2024). Along the corridor starting from the University Administration Center Building (PAU) or the UI Rectorate to the Hall, several photos were hung.
These photos are silent witnesses of UI’s long journey in organizing graduation ceremonies. Among the photos, there are graduations in the past held at the Rawamangun Campus, graduations at the Salemba Campus, and graduations at Istora Senayan.
In addition, what is interesting is that in one of the photos, there is a mother with her young daughter. In front of the photo, there is a photo of two beautiful women. Both photos are titled “Dian Sastro and Mother.”
“Earlier this year, in order to enliven UI’s Dies Natalis, the UI Archives Office held a photo exhibition at the UI Library. The response we received was very positive. Well, this time, the Archives Office selected relevant photos to be displayed, like UI graduations from time to time,” said Head of the UI Public Relations and Public Information Disclosure (KIP) Bureau, Dra. Amelita Lusia., M.Si..
“We often neglect to store historical documentation. We don’t want that to happen, because history cannot repeat itself twice. Fortunately, now data that was originally in printed form can be stored digitally,” said Amelita.
