Wynona Salsabila Hafiz, a student from the Industrial Engineering Masters Program at Universitas Indonesia (UI), Faculty of Engineering (FT), was crowned Miss Hijab Indonesia 2024 in the 5th Miss Hijab Indonesia event held at the Front One Resort Hotel in Yogyakarta. This event was held by PT Putra Anta Gemilang and aims to find superior Muslim women with a combination of manners, integrity, intelligence, and religious understanding.
During the interview session, Wynona emphasized the importance of the event as a forum to develop the talents and potential of Muslim women in various fields. “This event is in line with the principles that I want to bring, namely to show that Muslim women can contribute positively to society. Through character, intelligence, and integrity, Muslim women can inspire many people,” said Wynona, who represented the DKI Jakarta Province.
In the competition, she went through various stages, starting from the Qur’an reading test, public speaking, advocacy program presentations, to talent shows. She admitted that the biggest challenge she faced was balancing competition preparations with her academic responsibilities.
“This is my first experience and it is quite challenging. The title that I finally got is not just an award, but also a responsibility for me to become a better person, who is able to maintain integrity and apply Islamic values in everyday life. For me, the hijab is not an obstacle, but a symbol of obedience that strengthens the identity of a Muslim woman and a source of strength to work and provide a positive impact,” she said.
Active on Campus, Participates in Pushing the “I Wear Local” Movement
In the midst of preparing for the competition, Wynona remains active in contributing to the academic field. She was listed as a keynote speaker at international conferences, such as the 5th European International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in Rome, Italy, and the 5th International Conference on Industrial & Mechanical Engineering and Operations Management in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In addition, she has extensive organizational experience, starting from being Deputy Chair of the Stage of Art Project to Head of the Kajian Aksi Strategis (Strategic Action Study Division) at Ikatan Mahasiswa Teknik Industri, or IMTI (Industrial Engineering Student Association).
In the future, Wynona will initiate the “I Wear Local” movement to encourage people to use more local products. This movement also aims to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the use of digital technology in marketing.
“Hopefully, this initiative and achievement can inspire more Muslim women in Indonesia to continue to work and bring positive impacts to society. To the young generation of Muslim women, don’t be afraid to try and take steps. Success is about the courage to try, remaining optimistic, and always trusting in God. With hard work, family support, and faith in God, all dreams can be achieved,” said Wynona, who last week won the title of Miss Hijab Indonesia 2024.
With the crown of Miss Hijab Indonesia 2024, Wynona hopes to continue to make real contributions and inspire the young generation throughout Indonesia.
